Today’s territory:
Set new work patterns into place.
Notice how this affects everything else.
Like color relationships, even one thing changed for the better brings positive effects to the whole system.
What simple thing to do today to bring vitality and expansion to art and life?
Personally, at last I am getting good studio habits going again. It’s wonderful, grounding… I watch benefits ripple out from my studio, as this renewed structure and accomplishment flow into other areas of my life.
New work, new mind, new behaviors.
A friend of mine has a large coral reef aquarium,. I have been watching his slow steady process blossoming into life, diversity, and strength. Like the little coral animals building their reef-houses, assembling our architecture of creative practice gives us a rich structure of options and opportunities, from daily consistent actions. That mother nature, what a model! I got tangled up between doing what I ‘should do’, rather than ‘what I want to do’. It took a bit to disentangle. Now though, I can take a break from finishing up older pieces and move into new nourishing currents.
What brings the most vitality to your life, like ocean waves across a healthy reef?
I need to be at the edge of my known parameters, trying new things, exploring, following my interests.
Right now that’s making luscious art.
Coral reefs – their incredible abundance of colors, patterns, and shape – inspired these new pieces. Technically I am playing with mokume gane, translucency and color, pearlescent, patterns. There are more images elsewhere. How voluptuous and satisfying it is to be in deep creation again. This is like swimming in the ocean. The sea water is always moving, active. Such a powerful, intimate presence that each time is new and amazing. New swimming muscles for strength and flexibility work great on dry land too.
New choices, new options, are showing up regularly in my life.
New work, new mind. It’s already got me doing a blog. What’s next?
